Kubota Autonomous Rovers
A leading agricultural technology company aimed to improve its digital interface for managing autonomous vehicles, missions, tasks, and personnel within ranches and vineyards. The initial rollout focused on California, with future global expansion in mind.
Problem
The existing farm management interface is complex and inefficient, making it difficult for farm managers and employees to set up missions, assign tasks, and operate autonomous vehicles effectively. Users faced challenges such as a cumbersome mission creation process, unclear machine setup, authentication barriers, and limited task differentiation based on expertise. Additionally, the platform lacked support for third-party applications, real-time video monitoring, collision avoidance, and predictive analytics—hindering farm productivity and decision-making.
Solution
As the lead product designer of this project, I am currently redesigning the interface with a user-centered approach, simplifying mission setup, improving task assignment, and enhancing navigation. Key improvements include a guided mission creation process, role-based access controls, third-party integrations, and AI-powered predictive analytics. The updated system also introduced real-time video monitoring and collision avoidance to enhance safety. These enhancements streamlined operations, increased efficiency, and empowered farm managers with actionable insights for better decision-making.
