Improving Customization and Usability

Knowledge Zones allow users to share expertise on topic areas of interest by curating content in a template format – almost like a mini-website. Improvements in usability and accesibility give more customisation control, and a clearer, more intuitive interface.

Overview

Market Logic Software's Knowledge Zone interface allows marketers to create internal websites to share information with their peers within the company. However, the previous interface had limitations in customization control and ease of use for Editors and Owners.

I collaborated with the squad to redesign the Knowledge Zone interface and address the issues. This transformed it into a more user-friendly interface with drag-and-drop functionality and enhanced customization capabilities.

My Impact

Users can easily reorganize pages by dragging and dropping them in the lateral panel.

New options for header text background colors and custom themes allow users to select the text, background, and button colors for menus.

A more intuitive layout makes navigation and page management straightforward.

Key goals included:

  • Allowing users to add new sublayers of pages

  • Enabling easy reorganization of pages through drag-and-drop functionality

  • Enhancing control over page visibility

  • Improving team member management and permission settings

  • Adding advanced customization options for headers and themes

Summary

The redesign of the Knowledge Zone interface successfully addressed the limitations of the previous design by providing Editors and Owners with greater customization control and an easier-to-use interface.

The new drag-and-drop functionality, enhanced page and team management features, and advanced customization options significantly improved the user experience. These improvements helped users create more efficient, visually appealing, and well-organized internal websites, ultimately enhancing collaboration and information sharing within their peers.
